The following message was sent to parents Thursday evening, March 12, 2020:
To support the states efforts to reduce the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, Dr. Albertus has made the decision to close school, starting Monday, March 16, for two weeks or until further guidance recommends otherwise. WHILE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A CONFIRMED CASE OF COVID-19 IN CARROLL COUNTY, this decision was made to support the states recommendation to reduce the potential exposure of the coronavirus through the recommended practice of social distancing and self-quarantine to slow the spread of the virus.
It is important to hold school tomorrow, March 13, to prepare students for at-home learning over the coming weeks. Your principal or supervisor will communicate with you further on expectations and procedures. We will let families also know of these plans tonight so they will have tomorrow to make personal preparations for their families.
For our students who typically depend on the school system to provide their main meals during the week, arrangements are being made to drop off breakfasts and lunches at our normal summer feeding community locations during this period.
All school activities will also be suspended during this time, including athletic competitions and other events until further notice.
