Beginning today (May 29), Carrollton City Schools will provide meals to children at no cost while school is out for the summer. There is no income or registration requirement and any child age 18 and under may receive a free breakfast and/or lunch meal at any of the 15 Carrollton locations.
“We are excited for the opportunity to provide meals for the children from our district at various sites throughout the community,” said Dr. Linette Dodson, director of School Nutrition for Carrollton City Schools. “This is a great option for families during the summer months when their children are not in school to receive healthy meals during the week.”
Carrollton City Schools has been participating in this program for years, which is an extension of the United States Department of AgricultureÂ’s National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs. Dodson said the goal is to do as much as possible to increase participation so that more children are fed daily. Partnering with the school system is Action Ministries.
