Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Carroll County recorded an all-time low unemployment rate of 2.4 percent, down five-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 5.8 percent.

“We are seeing all-time low unemployment rates throughout the state of Georgia reflecting an economy that is continuing to rapidly recover,” said Commissioner Mark Butler. “We are working with employers across the state to post, recruit, and fill critical positions in preparation for a strong holiday employment season.”

The labor force decreased in September by 18 to 55,651. That number is up 2,978 over-the-year.

Carroll County ended September with 54,340 employed residents. Â The number increased by 305 in September and was up 4,725 as compared to last year.

Initial claims for unemployment decreased by 16 percent in September. When compared to last September, claims were down about 81 percent.

Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed 738 active job postings in Carroll County for September.
