More than 30 Carroll County residents have attached their names to a petition filed in the Carroll County Superior Court this week – challenging recent alleged actions by the City of Villa Rica, the Embry Development Company and another property owner – regarding more than 200 acres of land on between Hickory Level Road and South Van Wert Road.
The petitioners claim to be adjacent and adjoining land-owners – both in Carroll County and the city of Villa Rica – who object to annexation of the subject land out of Carroll County – and object to the rezoning of all three subject parcels in Villa Rica “because of a host of failures and omissions by Embry and the City of Villa Rica.
Petitioners are hoping to stop reported plans for a 400-acre data center project in that area. Petitioners state that construction of a data center will immediately and directly adversely impact their land and quality of life.
The defendants have 30 days to respond to the court.
