When someone is facing a mental health crisis or struggling with addiction, finding the right support can be lifesaving.
For more than a decade, Carroll County Mental Health Advocates (CCMHA) has been the missing link for individuals looking for support — offering connection, compassion and critical resources when they need it most.
Now, under the leadership of the new executive director, Ginny Bouchard, MPA, the organization is focused on continuing its mission and guiding those in need toward hope, healing and recovery.
“This marks an exciting new chapter for CCMHA,” said Dr. N. Jane McCandless, board chair of the organization. “Ginny brings not only outstanding leadership and experience, but also a genuine passion for public service. Her dedication to expanding mental health resources throughout Carroll County will make a real difference in the lives of so many in our community.”
Bouchard has built her career at the intersection of public policy and governance, serving previously as a law enforcement officer and legislative policy analyst — which has uniquely positioned her to lead CCMHA in its mission.
“Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed firsthand the profound impact mental health and substance use disorders can have on individuals, families and entire communities,” said Bouchard. “I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to access support and resources that lead to recovery. I’m deeply grateful to be a part of this community and to serve alongside such a caring and dedicated team. Together, we’re moving forward, building stronger partnerships, and reaffirming the dignity and value of every person we serve.”
CMHA offers a wide range of services for individuals and families affected by mental illness and addiction—including education and advocacy, pre-trial diversion, one-on-one peer support and weekly peer led recovery groups.
Many of these programs rely on federal grants — and that funding has been increasingly uncertain, which poses challenges for organizations like CCMHA that deliver support to individuals and families across the community.
