Carroll County BOE To Review Budget

The Carroll County Schools Financial Department has said the difference between the expenditures and revenue changes to the proposed 2019 budget, could reach $2.2 million.

Assistant Superintendent, Delene Strickland, said the initial budget estimates are based on several assumptions. The most significant expenditure change for Fiscal Year 19 is the estimated increase in Teacher Retirement System employer contributions. The most significant revenue changes are the increase in local fair share and decrease in equalization funding.

The Carroll County School Board will consider several options for addressing the estimated shortfall, including: increasing the millage rate by 1.38 mills, which generates estimated $2.2 million, using fund equity, reducing the budget and or a combination of these options.

Budget discussions will continue this evening during the school  board’s monthly work session.
