Haralson County SheriffÂ’s Office Investigators and the Georgia State Patrol on Saturday found the remains of a 32-year old Tallapoosa woman whose family had reported her missing the day before. Her family said they had not seen or spoken to her in the previous 24 hours.
Investigator Heather Mecillas said a deputy used a drone and located a 1998 Dodge Neon down an embankment off US Highway 78, about a half-mile east of Riverside Drive. Inside the car was the body of Crystal A. Dangar.
“At around 3:30 Saturday morning, I pinged the missing woman’s cell phone and received a general location,” Mecillas told WLBB Radio. “Deputies searched the wooded area for about an hour but did not find anything in the dark. At first light Saturday morning, Sgt. Jarred Taylor used his drone and located the vehicle.”
According to the report filed by Georgia State Patrolman Michael Nolan of Post 29:
“Physical evidence indicates the following: Vehicle 1 was traveling east on State Route 8. Driver 1 failed to maintain the lane and traveled onto the south shoulder. Vehicle 1 traveled down the south shoulder embankment to impact with a large tree. Vehicle 1 struck the tree with the front driver side of Vehicle 1. After impact, Vehicle 1 rotated approximately 90 degrees clockwise and traveled further down the embankment to impact with another tree. Vehicle 1 struck the tree with the driver side door of Vehicle 1.
The time of crash and time of death are unknown.
Haralson County Coroner took possession of a blood kit and, if possible, would deliver to the GBI Crime Lab for analysis.”
