Authorities in South Carolina conduct a search for a missing camper from Temple, Georgia

(PRESS RELEASE) Over the past several days, resources from the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, Pickens County Emergency Services, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Anderson County Emergency Management, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, Greenville County Emergency Response Team, Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, Oconee County Emergency Services, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, South Carolina State Park Service, Foothills Search and Rescue, and Carolina Search and Rescue have conducted a large scale searched at Table Rock State Park, located within Pickens County.

These efforts were initiated when the Sheriff’s Office received a call reference a missing camper. Stephanie Ann Womacks of Temple Georgia was last seen at her campsite in the White Oak camping area of Table Rock State Park on March 03, 2025 at approximately 6:00 p.m. Stephanie was camping with a family member at the site. The family member left the campground at approximately 5:00 p.m. to pick up some supplies while Stephanie remained at the campsite. Witnesses placed Stephanie at the campsite by herself, but when her family member returned, she could not be located, and the witnesses did not notice her leave the site. The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location along with Pickens County Emergency Management. The Sheriff’s Office began a search utilizing K9s and a drone equipped with Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR).

On 03-04-2025, the search consisted of 72 first responders from the above-mentioned agencies. The area was gridded and searched by first responders. In addition to the ground search, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division utilized its aviation unit to provide a helicopter for the search, and multiple drones were also Incorporated to search from the air. The search has continued today (03-05-2025) with a total of 86 first responders searching the area. All other assets are still being utilized, and a search boat with sonar capability is being deployed on Pinnacle Lake, along with divers.

Stephanie was last known to be wearing blue jeans with black tennis shoes and a brown hoodie with (GAP) scripted in pink. Anyone with information about this matter please contact the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office at 864-898-5500.
