Carrollton Police are investigating the armed robbery of a local pharmacy late night Sunday where the masked suspect reportedly left the store with money and narcotics.
According to the report filed by Officer Richard Brice, a female employee of the WalgreenÂ’s located at 794 South Park Street in Carrollton was on her way out of the store at approximately 10:50pm. As the door opened, a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, navy sweatpants, blue Nike shoes, and black face mask stepped out from the left side of the building and met her in the doorway. He then ordered her back inside the store. She described that he was holding what she believed to be a silver and black semi-automatic handgun.
According to the report, the male suspect then gathered the six people said to be in the store and took their cellphones. He then forced all in the store towards the manager’s office. Inside the office, witnesses say the suspect made the manager open the safe and the suspect took money from inside. He then instructed employees to take him into the pharmacy section, where he collected “only the scheduled narcotics.”
The suspect then moved everyone out of the pharmacy and had them lay face down on their stomachs, separated from each other as he left the store.
Officer Brice said due to the Quality Inn being the neighboring business to Walgreens, he checked to see if the suspect could have fled through the hotel while leaving the scene. He searched the Quality Inn and wood line for signs of the suspect but did not find any.
Investigators are reviewing a guest list of the hotel and say they are looking into the possibility that the suspect may be connected to the June 13th armed robbery of the CVS Pharmacy at the corner of Highway 61 and Highway 78 in Villa Rica.
